Nashville Like a Local

Spent the last few days in Nashville and it was a whirlwind of a trip, and finally after ten plus trips, I wandered off Broadway to see some new venues with some new artists that I like, and for the first time felt like a local in Nashville!

The Back Corner- This venue is behind 5th and Taylor Restaurant (see Nashville best restaurant guide on the blog), in Germantown. It is a small concert venue with an intimate feel. There is room to dance in front of the stage and then couches and seating surrounding the outsides of the room and a balcony upstairs with more seating. If you are in Nashville and want to hear some original music and up and coming artists, I would look this place up and see who is playing and follow them on Instagram. Germantown is full of amazing restaurants so you could make a whole night of it!

The Local- Located in Midtown, The Local is another excellent venue to see new artists! The stage is not raised, like at the Back Corner so it has a little more bar feel then club-event feel, but again a smaller intimate atmosphere.

Listening Room- The Listening Room is like the Bluebird, but more modern and without the intimate feel. It is classy, airy, and almost feels like going to a theater. Like the Bluebird, songwriters will get on stage usually in groups of 3, and share their songs and how they were written. Another great venue to get a more authentic Nashville vibe.

Winners Bar- This is again a place to get out of downtown Broadway, and is actually also located in Midtown. It hosts an event for singers and songwriters on Mondays and Thursdays called Whiskey Jam, with eight artists coming out to sing and usually free.

After this weekend I realized how sad it was that in all my trips to Nashville I have never been to these places. It is so fun to see the up and coming artists perform and to hear original music. Can't wait to go back and revisit these places!
