Colorado Must Do's

I have received a lot of questions about what to do if you come to visit Colorado, especially with the Old Dominion show at Red Rocks only a month away, so I thought I would share my favorite things to do in my home state.

Red Rocks-

This is at the top of my list. Even if you can't make it to a show, it is worth the visit during the day. You will find many people working out and hiking the trails around the amphitheater. It has a restaurant and a small museum with Red Rocks memorabilia that is worth the visit if you are a music fan. It is located in the brick building at the top of the stairs. www.redrocksonline.com

Boulder 16th Street Mall and CU campus-

Am I the only one who loves checking out the college campuses when they visit different places? The University of Colorado has one of the most beautiful campuses and football stadiums. And the town of Boulder is worth a visit, if nothing else then to ponder its quirkiness. It is a city of uber-wealthy and pretend poor hippies, who somehow have formed a unique city with a charm all of its own. Walk down Pearl Street for great shopping, eating, and people watching. There are also some great trails around Boulder in the Flat Irons to hike if you feel up to it. www.bouldercoloradousa.com

Coors Brewery Golden-

Coors Brewery is located near Red Rocks and gives you a tour of the making of the beer of the Rockies, complete with samples at the end. It is a thirty-minute tour which lets you see the malting, brewing and packaging processes, ending with a tasting of your own. www.millercoors.com

Vail, Aspen, Steamboat Springs, Colorado Springs or Estes Park-

I feel like no trip to Colorado is complete without at least one night in the mountains. Any of the towns listed above will give you the organic mountain feel, no matter what season you go in. Every town is unique based on what you are into doing, but great trails for hiking surround each. If you plan on hiking, get up early to get there before crowds and so that you have enough time. Also, make sure you are adjusted to the altitude before you go. Aspen is famous for its Maroon Bells hike. Steamboat Springs is renowned for its Hot Springs, Estes Park is home to the Stanley hotel and the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park and Colorado Springs has the Garden of the Gods and caves.

Grizzly Rose

This is Colorado's version of a Nashville Honkey Tonk. Check the website for info on what is going on the week you visit. Some nights they have dance lessons, some nights live bands, and some nights are ladies or family night. www.grizzlyrose.com

Fort Collins

A walk around Old Town and down Main street is a fun way to waste a day. Fort Collins is the Craft Beer capital of the State,. Here you can find breweries including Odell’s and New Belgium and close to fifty more you can visit. There is also a beautiful reservoir close to the city to visit, Horsetooth which has amazing trails, boating, and stunning views.

If you come to Colorado, I would highly recommend renting a car and planning to travel at least an hour outside of Denver. If you need any help planning DM me!
